Starting Point
Here's a selection of pictures of the house and outbuildings at the beginning before we've had a chance to start on the restoration process.
At the start, the outbuildings are simply empty barns; four walls and a roof. Each barn has a number of small windows, doors and openings. Generally the buildings are in sound structural condition. The Long Barn has a paved floor, the Tall Barn has a concrete floor and the Dancehall has a tiled floor. The ground floor of the main house has two internal structural walls and a number of partition walls, some of which will have to come down. Many of the window openings in all the buildings will need to be made taller and new wooden windows made and fitted. Most of the existing doorways are far to large and will need to be made smaller or blocked-off entirely. New external doors will also need to be made. A proper second floor will need to be created in the Tall Barn and, once all the air bricks have been replaced, an internal skin added to the walls.
